Hive_Zero

Everything you need to know about CyberHive's silent compute heater.

Overview

The Hive_Zero is a compact, silent compute heater designed for living spaces. It replaces traditional electric heaters by using Bitcoin mining hardware to generate heat — turning your electricity bill into an income stream while keeping your home warm.

J vs K: Which Model to Choose?

The Hive_Zero comes in two versions based on the hashboard generation inside. Understanding the difference helps you pick the right one for your setup.

Feature J Model K Model (Recommended)
Efficiency 32 W/TH 24 W/TH
Optimal Temperature Up to ~60°C Up to ~70°C
Heat Tolerance Efficiency drops above 60°C Maintains efficiency up to 70°C
Noise at High Temps Fans spin faster to stay cool → louder Runs comfortably at higher temps → quieter
Price 10.999,- kr 13.999,- kr
Best For Budget-conscious, cooler rooms Living rooms, bedrooms, silent operation
💡 Our recommendation: The K model is the better choice for most home setups. At 500W it hashes at approximately 20 TH/s and is almost silent. It operates at higher temperatures without losing efficiency, which means the Noctua fans can run slower — resulting in a whisper-quiet unit. The J model works well in cooler environments (garages, basements), but in a living room where silence matters, the K pays for itself in comfort.

The Heat-Efficiency Trade-off (J Model)

The J hashboard starts losing efficiency above 60°C. In a warm living room, this means you're faced with a choice: either run the fans faster to keep temperatures down (increasing noise), or accept the higher temperature and lose mining efficiency. Neither is ideal for a living space.

The K model avoids this problem entirely — it's designed to operate efficiently at up to 70°C, making it the natural fit for indoor heating.

Setup Guide

Getting your Hive_Zero up and running takes just a few minutes:

  1. Unbox & place your Hive_Zero — Position it where you'd normally have a heater. Ensure adequate airflow around the unit.
  2. Power on — Plug it in and switch it on. The unit will boot up and create its own WiFi hotspot.
  3. Connect to WiFi — On your phone or computer, connect to the TP-Link WiFi network the unit broadcasts. Open the configuration page, select Quick SetupClient, then pair it with your home WiFi network.
  4. Set up your mining pool — Enter your preferred mining pool details and your Bitcoin wallet address. We recommend Braiins Pool or Ocean for home miners.
  5. Start mining & stay warm — That's it! Your Hive_Zero will begin mining Bitcoin and heating your space. Monitor performance through the web interface.
🔧 Pro tip: The Hive_Zero runs Braiins OS+, which includes autotuning. It will automatically optimize performance based on your power and temperature settings. You can adjust wattage (350–1000W) to match how much heat you need.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much can I earn?

Earnings depend on Bitcoin price, network difficulty, and your electricity cost. The key insight is that you're already paying for heating — the Hive_Zero gives you cashback on that expense. Every watt of electricity becomes heat AND Bitcoin.

Is it really quiet enough for a living room?

At lower power settings (350–500W), the Hive_Zero runs at around 30–35 dB — comparable to a quiet whisper or a running refrigerator. The K model stays quieter at higher power settings thanks to its better heat tolerance.

Can I upgrade it later?

Yes! The Hive_Zero is designed to be modular. As newer, more efficient hashboards become available, you can swap them in without replacing the entire unit.

What happens in summer?

In summer, electricity prices are typically lower — you can take advantage of the cheap power to mine Bitcoin for pure profit. Turn it down when you don't need the heat, or keep it running at lower wattage to capitalize on favorable electricity rates.
